Percussionist Yeung Lam Yan joined the Hong Kong Young Chinese Orchestra in 2018. At 8 years old, she enrolled in instrumental music curriculum at the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Chinese percussion under the instruction of renowned percussionist and HKCO Orchestral Academy Associate Dean Yim Hok Man, and Hong Kong Sinfonietta lead percussionist Chau Chin Tung. Yeung is also minoring in Western percussion under the instruction of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Western percussion instructor Choy Lap Tak and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra percussionist Woo Shuk Fai.
Yeung is currently the lead percussionist of the Hong Kong Young Chinese Orchestra and Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong, performs with the Hong Kong YWCA Chinese Orchestra and Yao Yueh Chinese Music Association, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Junior Music Prospectus assistant, Big Tree Art Group Moment Theatre musician, and special guest performer for Four Gig Heads Percussion Group. Yeung has performed with the Macao Chinese Orchestra as a guest percussionist, received the Gold award in the youth category at the ‘IPEA Percussion Fest Hong Kong 2024’ competition, and joined in the 2024 ‘RTHK Sharing Chinese Musical Culture With the Consul of Austria’.
Yeung has visited the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, the Xi’an Conservatory of Music, and the Hsinchu Chinese Music Camp in Taiwan to join in exchange activities, and is actively involved in musical performances and collaborations in Hong Kong.
