Hui Yin is currently Zhonghu Assistant Principal with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. He started his music training at a young age, and joined the Central Movie Company Orchestra in 1977 before enrolling in the Dongfang Song and Dance Troupe and the Central Conservatory of Music the following year. He joined the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra in 1985.
Hui is a versatile artist, with his study covering vocal music, literary writing and photography. He has given solo vocal recitals, accompanying the Hungarian State Symphony Orchestra, performing solo at the Goldenersaal, Musikverein in Vienna in 2010, and at the Lincoln Center, the U.S.A.. He holds a Ph.D. in Classical Chinese Literature from the Peking University. In 2005, he gave a solo photography exhibition presented by Popular Photography, and was invited to give lectures on poetry, music and photography by the City University of Hong Kong, the Capital Normal University of Beijing and The Photographic Society of Hong Kong. He is also listed in A Dictionary of Who’s Who on the Contemporary Chinese Music Scene.
