Dori, a women's percussion performance group, is a talented female percussion team that strives for the premium and high-quality of traditional Korean percussion. There are young groups who promote Korean traditional music through new attempts, but DORI attempts to convey a more fundamental Korean culture by focusing on the artistry of Samullori (also known as Samul nori).
Dori, who looks at the past and the future of traditional performance, is currently working on a project to make Samullori a high-quality in order to restore the original shape of Samullori. After the ‘Three Samul-pieces’ showcase in 2018, the ‘Three Samul-pieces’ small theater tour in 2019 and the ‘Three Samul-pieces’ national tour in 2021 were successfully conducted.
Dori is now trying to show the sophisticated artistry of Korean traditional percussion to people all over the world, beyond Korea, with the skillful and traditional musicality that it possesses.
