Xu Ting is currently a Visiting Fellow at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Born in Wuhan, China, Xu Ting received her cello training under Professor Long Man at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music and graduated as a Pre-college student. She was then admitted to The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a full scholarship and was awarded the First Class Honour with a Bachelor’s degree in 2015. Xu Ting also completed her Master’s degree studies with Distinction under the tutelage of Professor Ray Wang at the Academy in 2017.
Xu Ting has participated in master classes conducted by Yo-Yo Ma, David Geringas, Steven Isserlis, David Finckel, Wen-Sinn Yang and Sadao Harada, just to name a few. She also studied String Quartet courses with the Borodin Quartet, Alban Berg Quartet, Miami String Quartet, Shanghai Quartet, Orion String Quartet, Chilingirian Quartet, Endellion Quartet, Pacifica Quartet and Debussy String Quartet.
Xu Ting has won many competitions including the Academy Concerto Competition, the First Prize at the Beijing Great Wall International Music Festival Concerto Competition, Second Prize at the Cross-Strait Cello Competition for Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan – Youth Section, and Special Prize of the 6th National Cello Competition in China. As a rising young talent, Xu Ting appeared as soloist with the Academy Symphony Orchestra and the Beijing Radio Symphony Orchestra. She also appeared in the Music Festival of the McGill International String Quartet Academy in Montreal, Canada as well as the world renowned Aspen Music Festival in the United States.
